The Cash App developed by Block Inc has now introduced bitcoin transaction capabilities, allowing users to send and receive Bitcoin through the lightning network.Cash App, a payment processing application from Block Inc, has recently incorporated Bitcoin transaction features, enabling users to send and receive Bitcoin via the lightning network.

After integrating with the lightning network in February to facilitate Bitcoin payments, Cash App has now fully embraced transactions over the Bitcoin Lightning Network.

The Lightning Network is a layer-2 solution that enhances Bitcoin’s scalability and provides instant payments among a network of users.

Product Lead Michael Rihani was the first to announce this feature through a tweet. He added, “Cash App now supports both sending and receiving over lightning. As long as the other wallet supports LN, you should be good.”

As per Michael Rihani, this feature is currently only accessible to Cash App users in the United States, with availability restricted for residents of New York State.

When some users reacted to Michael’s announcement on Twitter, they mentioned difficulties with the feature. Michael confirmed that it is functional for both Android and iOS users, who should ensure they have the latest version of the app installed or updated.

Since 2018, Cash App has been one of the pioneering mainstream payment applications supporting Bitcoin. “We believe that Bitcoin is the world’s best digital, sound money, period,” stated Miles Suter, Crypto Product Lead at Cash App. “We believe that Bitcoin is for the people, and that in America, Cash App is the financial app for the people.”

In conjunction with Cash App’s support for the Bitcoin lightning network, the layer 2 solution has been achieving notable growth over the years. As reported by Blockchain.News earlier this month, the lightning network has surpassed the 5,000 BTC benchmark, reflecting an increase of 2,000 BTC within just one year.
